RestioX Loyalty & Rewards

A Regular Is the Cheapest Cover You Will Ever Sell

Winning a new guest costs money — ads, launch discounts, a marketplace taking its cut. Getting the same guest back a fifth time costs a stamp on a card. RestioX Loyalty works out who your regulars are, rewards them automatically in the POS and the online shop, and puts their card in their phone wallet.

Why loyalty pays

Most restaurants cannot name their own regulars

You know the faces. What you do not know is that the couple who come in on Thursdays have spent $2,140 with you this year, or that they have not been through the door in five weeks. That information already exists — it is sitting in your order history attached to a phone number. Loyalty turns it into something you can act on: a balance the guest cares about, a tier they would rather not lose, and a shortlist of people worth sending one message to.

  • Every paid order is attributed to a customer record, so lifetime spend and visit counts build themselves
  • Points earn on the net subtotal — after discounts, before tax and delivery — so a discounted bill never pays out at full-price rates
  • Segments group guests by real behaviour: spend, visit frequency, how long since they were last seen, current tier
  • A natural-language segment builder turns a sentence into the filter, so you do not have to think in query conditions
  • Churn prediction flags the regulars who have quietly stopped coming, while they are still winnable
  • Per-customer email preferences are honoured by every job that sends, so an opt-out stays an opt-out

None of this needs a marketing agency behind it. It needs the data you are already collecting to stop being a pile of receipts.

Typical settings

What operators usually start with

  • 5% A common earn rate — five percent of the net subtotal handed back as points
  • 10 Stamps on a classic buy-ten-get-one card, though the threshold is yours to set
  • 3 Tiers most operators begin with: bronze, silver and gold, each with its own multiplier
  • 2 Sides paid on a referral — the guest who refers and the friend who joins
These are settings, not promises

The figures above are values operators commonly configure, not results we are claiming on your behalf. What a loyalty programme is worth to you depends on your margin, your prices and how generous you make the rules — all of which you set per restaurant, and can change whenever you like.

The mechanics

Six things a guest can actually see

  • Points that behave properly

Points accrue on the net subtotal — after any discount, before tax and delivery — so a half-price Tuesday does not quietly pay out as though it were full price. Redemption is a single atomic operation, so two tills or two browser tabs cannot both spend the same balance. Refund an order and the points it earned come off again, instead of leaving a phantom credit behind.

  • Membership tiers

Bronze, silver, gold, or whatever you want to call them. Each level carries its own earn multiplier and its own benefits, guests move up as their lifetime figures cross the thresholds you set, and every move is recorded so you can see when someone climbed — or slipped back.

  • Digital stamp cards

Buy nine coffees, get the tenth. You choose which items count towards a stamp, how many stamps fill the card and what filling it pays out. The punch happens on the order itself, not on a piece of cardboard the guest leaves in a coat pocket.

  • Refer a friend

A guest shares their code, the friend who joins is attributed back to them, and both sides collect a reward. The attribution is held on the account rather than in the session, so a referral that converts three weeks later still credits the right person.

  • Lifetime milestones

One-off rewards that fire when a guest crosses a threshold you define — their tenth visit, their five hundredth dollar spent. Each milestone pays out once and then never fires again for that customer, however many times they qualify.

  • The card in their phone wallet

Apple Wallet and Google Wallet passes carry the balance, the tier and the stamp row, and refresh as those change. Nothing to install, nothing to lose, and it sits in the same place as their boarding passes and transit card.

Behind the counter

The parts that run without anyone watching

Configured once in the admin, then left alone. None of these need a staff member to trigger them, and none of them live in a second system you have to keep in step.

  • Signup bonusA fixed number of points credited the moment a guest joins, so the balance is never zero on the first visit and there is already something to come back for.
  • Campaign multipliersDouble points on a quiet Tuesday, scheduled in advance and evaluated at checkout automatically. No code for the guest to remember, no override for the cashier to key in.
  • Customer segmentsReusable groups built from spend, order frequency, recency and tier — the audience for a campaign or a single well-aimed email, rather than the whole list.
  • Plain-English segment builderDescribe the group you want the way you would say it out loud — lapsed weekday lunch regulars — and the builder turns that sentence into the underlying filter for you.
  • Churn predictionScores each customer on how likely they are to stop coming, judged against their own visit rhythm rather than one fixed cut-off date applied to everybody.
  • AI-written campaign copyDrafts a subject line and body from the segment and the offer, using the same AI suite the rest of the admin runs on. You read and edit it before anything is sent.
  • Email preferencesPer-customer opt-ins for each kind of loyalty email, checked by every sending job. A guest who mutes reward reminders stays muted without being unsubscribed from everything.
  • Franchise poolingFor groups: switch a set of branches to a shared balance so points earned at one site are spendable at any other, on one account the guest never has to think about.
  • My Rewards for guestsA self-service area inside the account on your own site — balance, current tier, stamp progress, the rewards they can afford right now and what they have already redeemed.

One programme, both checkouts

The POS and the online shop earn and redeem on identical rules. Change a rate once and it is changed everywhere.

The guest journey

From a first visit to a habit

  1. 1
    Visit one

They join, and the balance is not zero

A guest signs up at the till, on the online shop, or from the QR code on the table. The signup bonus lands straight away, so there is a balance worth protecting from the very first order rather than an empty card and a vague promise.

  2. 2
    Every visit after

    Earning happens inside the payment

Points accrue on the net subtotal of every paid order, whether it came from the POS, the online shop or a table QR code. Any stamp rule the items match is punched at the same moment. Nobody has to press a loyalty button or ask for a card.

  3. 3
    Somewhere around visit five

A tier, or a full card

Enough lifetime spend and they cross into the next tier and start earning on a better multiplier. Enough qualifying items and the stamp card fills and pays out. The wallet pass on their phone picks up the new tier and the new stamp count.

  4. 4
    At checkout

    They spend it, safely

The guest picks a reward from the catalogue you defined and it applies in the same flow as any other discount on the order. The deduction is atomic, so a double-tap or a second open tab cannot spend the same points twice, and a later refund gives the points back.

  5. 5
    When they go quiet

    Something pulls them back

A milestone fires on their next visit, a campaign doubles points for a week, or churn prediction drops them into a segment that gets one well-timed email. The copy can be drafted for you; the decision to send it stays yours.

The operator side

Configure it once, then forget it exists

The usual failure mode of a loyalty scheme is human. A cashier forgets to ask for the card. A manager keys the discount in wrong. A paper stamp card collects a friendly punch it did not earn. RestioX Loyalty runs inside the order itself, so at the till there is nothing to ask for and nothing to key in.

  • Earning and redemption are wired into both the POS and the online shop on the same rules — one place to change a rate, not two systems to keep in step
  • Campaign multipliers are evaluated at checkout automatically, so the cashier sees the result rather than being asked to make a decision
  • Redemption is concurrency-safe: a second attempt on an already-spent balance fails cleanly instead of pushing the account below zero
  • Refunds and cancellations claw points back, so a voided order never leaves free credit sitting on an account
  • Every earn, redemption and manual adjustment is a ledger row you can read back per customer, with the order it came from
  • Branch scoping applies as it does everywhere else in RestioX, unless you deliberately pool a franchise group

Where it fits

The same module, three different jobs

Coffee shops and quick service

High frequency, low ticket, no time at the counter. The stamp card is the whole programme: buy nine, get the tenth, punched on the item automatically rather than remembered by whoever is on bar. The pass sits in the phone wallet next to the transit card.

Neighbourhood restaurants

Lower frequency, higher ticket, guests you would recognise. Points on the net subtotal plus three tiers give a table something to build towards across a year, milestones mark the visits worth marking, and churn prediction catches the couple who used to come monthly and have not been since spring.

Multi-branch groups and franchises

Points earned at the airport site should be spendable on the high street. Pool the group and they are, on one balance the guest never has to think about, while your reporting still shows which branch did the earning and which one paid the reward out.

Questions operators ask

Loyalty and rewards, answered

After. Points accrue on the net subtotal — the order total once any discount, coupon or redeemed reward has been applied, and before tax, service and delivery fees. That matters more than it sounds. Earning on the gross figure means a half-price promotion hands out points at full-price rates, and the promotion quietly costs you twice.
